Web Apps - Web apps are browser based "Instant Play" poker apps that can be played directly from the iPad's web browser. This means you do not need to download or install an app from the iTunes app store. Apple currently do not allow real money gambling apps in the United States and in many other European countries. This has resulted in iPad poker developers choosing to develop web based apps rather than native poker apps.

Native Apps - Native apps are the apps that most iPhone and iPad owners are familiar with. These apps can be found in the iTunes app store and need to be installed on your mobile device. Native poker apps tend to be more advanced and boast better graphics than their web app counterparts.

What is the best Native poker app for the iPad? Bwin is the only poker room to succeed in getting a real money ipad poker app into the Apple App Store. The app is currently only available to iPad owners in Scotland, Austria, Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

So what is the best iPad Web app for real money poker? At the moment the only online poker room that supports real money poker outside the UK and is Switch Poker. Switch Poker can be played by just visiting the switch poker website and logging in. You are not required to install an iPad poker app from the App Store.
